BOOK REVIEW

ElLibrodeB_Abstract_02.png

My work is driven by a fascination with language. With a background in filmmaking, performance, and visual arts, I tell stories by exploring new narratives. This book is the next step in that journey—a blend of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.
— Pedro Valiente

"Through a fragmented narrative —a hybrid of poetry and autofiction— an emotionally moving tapestry of unexpected connections is woven. It is a personal testimony and a portrait of contemporary feeling that intertwines times and geographies to reconstruct what has been lived and dream of what awaits us. A journey where language sets the course for discoveries like Babel, Beauty or Brutal; and where a single letter has the power to transform everything." I Talón de Aquiles

SYNOPSIS

The Book of B (2026) - El libro de B tells the story of a boy who lives with his head inside a box, a tale that blends poetic writing with fiction and non-fiction. The boy grows into a man searching for B, while B searches for its own identity, turning language into a labyrinth of discovery. The journey unfolds as a secret game of words and images, leading to encounters with hidden books, fantastic creatures, and iconic figures.

BOOK COVER

Cover drafts for The Book of B draw directly from the story’s core imagery. One design features VR cardboard glasses, representing the vision from inside the box. another one captures the boy’s silhouette, rendered entirely in a striking blue, and the final one draws from a singular text featuring one thing, a gadget, and an object.

SELECTED WORKS

POETRY BOOKS

The First Universe (2000-2002) is a trilogy that gathers Memories of Uruguay, The Numbers of Earth, and Wild Blues. It has been described as a sci-fi epic and philosophical poem. Written in New York while making the film New York Spin and the art installation 282 Broadway, it has been used as source material for stage works.

Memories of Uruguay (2000) - Memorias del Uruguay is a collection of love poems weitten by someone who has never visited that country.

"Rather than documenting lived experience, the book transforms absence into an expanding ground. Uruguay becomes a distant landscape where the imagined becomes real, and the unreal becomes intimate." I (Unpublished Book)

「 EXTERNAL REVIEWS 」

The Numbers of Earth (2000) - Los números de la Tierra collects iconic numbers of the world’s history, the 20th century history, and one person’s history.

"The text shapes three dimensions, where numbers become symbols of memory and imagination. From the origins of the cosmos to Picasso’s paintings, each figure resonates as both historical marker and metaphor. Emerging after an initial approach to poetic writing that found its path through love, and before opening itself to human relations framed by mystery, this book marks the author’s turn toward a deeper exploration of narratives." I (Unpublished Book)

Wild Blues (2002) - Azules Salvajes is a poetic journey inspired by extraordinary tales of medieval China.

"This series reinterprets the spirit of those fantastic narratives into a contemporary poetic fabric —meeting the timeless enchantment of Asian storytelling. The poems unfold as dreamlike maps, triggered by the beginnings of these ancient stories: fabulous loves, unexpected encounters, and settings haunted by forests and high mountains. Cartographies of the soul." I (Unpublished Book)
