visual theater
“In New York, I spent three years collaborating with director/artist Robert Wilson, including a PhD dissertation that evolved into a book series exploring his creative process. In Mexico City, I played a role in introducing Butoh to the National Center for the Arts. In Madrid, I collaborated with a National Theater and a theater-dance company, while also directing university theater.” — PV
“This body of work is shaped by the power of movement, the poetic fusion of word and image, and a strong sense of light, time, and space. Visual theater is seen as a multi-sensory experience, where the body speaks through silence and beauty is expressed in every element on stage. Through visual architectures, storytelling is redefined, both intimate and expansive, to inspire.”

Crossroads To Be Seen
“Going through a cross-disciplinary practice, Pedro Valiente’s creative journey spans performance, visual media, and cultural narratives. The work evolves through collaborations that merge theater with technology, crafting immersive, multi-layered experiences where body, image, and story breathe together.
In New York, as a video design collaborator for Robert Wilson on The Days Before: Death, Destruction and Detroit III, Valiente absorbed a radical approach to visual storytelling —where image, time, and space coexist in powerful, sculptural tableaux vivants. This collaboration deepened a vision of the stage as an open environment, a shifting architecture inviting new modes of audience encounter.
In Mexico City, this vision evolved in Flying Fish Over Mexico [director], a multimedia performance inspired by Butoh. Rooted in landscapes of myth and memory, the piece at the National Center for the Arts, brought together dancers, students, and artists in a collective ritual —a breathing tapestry where earth, body, and image dissolved into one.
Earlier in Madrid, Tilmun Teatro [director] worked on multimedia performance in the frame of university theater. Roberto Zucco by Bernard-Marie Koltès, Caresses by Sergi Belbel, and Nothing to America by Julio Cortázar channeled an early use of video on stage, and live music. a new stage language was in the making bringing technology into a contemporary fabric.
This creative path connects past influences with emerging futures. Searching immersive media, it continues to look at the crossroads of identity, culture, and narrative —inviting audiences into spaces where art is not only seen, but lived.” Site I EXTERNAL REVIEW
